Editorial Policy

Last updated: July 20, 2026

This Editorial Policy explains how TechShield Guide researches, writes, and maintains the content published on this Site. We publish it so readers can understand exactly how much trust to place in what we write.

Our mission

We exist to make technology, cybersecurity, and everyday software topics understandable to non-technical readers, using clear language and advice that's genuinely actionable — not padded, and not designed to alarm readers into a purchase or click.

How we choose topics

We prioritize topics that affect a large number of everyday users, that come up frequently in real-world questions, or that address common misconceptions in how people think about technology and security.

How we research and write

Corrections and updates

Technology changes quickly, and so does security guidance. Each article displays a "Published" and "Updated" date so readers can see how current the content is. When we become aware of outdated or inaccurate information — whether through our own review or a reader submission — we correct it and update the "Updated" date accordingly. Significant corrections may be noted directly within the article.

Independence and affiliations

TechShield Guide is an independent publication. We are not owned by, and do not receive editorial direction from, any software company, security vendor, or hardware manufacturer mentioned in our content. Product references are made for descriptive and educational purposes only, as detailed in our Disclaimer.

Advertising and editorial separation

Where the Site displays third-party advertising, ad placement and content are handled separately from editorial decisions. Advertisements do not influence which topics we cover or what we say about them, and advertising content is never presented as if it were our own editorial recommendation.

Reader corrections

We welcome reader corrections and feedback. If you believe something in an article is inaccurate or has become outdated, please let us know via our Contact page, and we'll review it promptly.
